I have the same 3 weighted cuckoo clock. My GM # 1884288 and 1892176 . Also stamped 25 Germany.
What did you pay for yours? I have mine a long time.
Problem with keeping pendulum going. Needs additional weight on hook. Is there a setting I can calibrate? All else works fine. Clock in excellent condition.
Would appreciate any and all feedback. Love this clock.
Thanks,Pharma

Pharma,
My guess as to the pendulum problem is that your weight is too light. I would say that when you got it, or sometime ago, the wrong weight was set on that hook. You need a heavier weight (or so it sounds like it).
I bought mine at an antique store for $50. I thought it a very reasonable price.
I have had a clock expert tell me that the "25" refers to a 24-hour clock (once a day, reset the weights... 25 hours, actually). I think he may be right, as no one else can show me stamps other than 75 and 25.
How did you acquire yours?

Black Forest Cuckoo follow up by: pharma
Mike, thanks for the reply. Put much heavier weight on clock pull...then...changed back to original weight and all works fine.
Got it as a gift. Interestingly the "guarantee" outlines repair locations in the U.S. Any thoughts on this? Thought they came from Germany..maybe made there for sale by U.S. outlets?
Any idea of its current worth?

As the clock is up in WA state (I am in CA) I will have to wait to send you a photo of the inside clockworks. Meantime... thanks for the info on your clock. Gives me an idea as to mine. My clock works fine, except the bellows are cracked so no "cuckoo" sound. Music box works fine.

I also have this clock. My Grandma has had it in her home for many years. Apparently my Dad had one of his military buddies pick it up while in Germany as a gift for his in-laws. So, now I have it. No idea on how to get it to run. Do I pull the weights down to the floor?

Mama Mia! by: Mike
My German is rusty. Something about the clock works and mechanical works...
Anyways, thanks for the comments. It is a great cuckoo clock. Mine works, but the bellows are cracked and need replacement.
Still wonder if anyone out there can tell me, or guide me, on how to find out how old it is. So far, I can guess anytime from late 1940's to the late 1970's.
schmechenbecher clock by: James
hi there.
I'm no real expert but here goes. The '25' written on the works signifies its a regula 25 movement, pretty much the standard one for one day clocks, two of mine are the same movement (regula is supposed to be the most rugged type of works apparantly and not as easy to accidentally kill off so most of the clockmakers use them) . i dont think the number signifies anything, its just a product number like BMW cars do a 3 series, a 5 series and so on. i know they do a regula 45 as well. the numbers on the weights arent significant. after 1950 they started putting the the number for the weight in gramms on the weights but before that, and sometimes after, they just put a number which would match up to a clock being made at that time. ie clock number 19 of however many they were producting at that time would have weights made with that number on so they knew which weights matched which clocks, if you see what i mean. schmeckenbecher shut down in something like the 1980's so its certainly not a recently made one although i dont know enough to put a date on it, probably 70's at a guess. i've got one myself but its a different model which i'm attempting to return to full working order. i hope this was of help to you. : )

No problem. I forgot to mention, another one of the listings said that if you put a larger weight on the time mechanism then it should work. Yes, thats right, i did it with one of mine and it worked a treat. what you should do additionally though is get some oil or anti corrosion spray (which works as a lubricant as well) and carefully feed it into all the wheels and cogs etc. after a while of the larger weight and the lubricant working together the clock will loosen back up to its original condition and you'll be able to use the original size weight without fear of the clock having stopped. bear in mind though that if you use the larger weight over a period of years this might cause the gears to wear down prematurely.

Please help determine ther value of my cuckoo clock by: Jeff B. from Seattle
Hi, can anyone determine the worth of my cuckoo clock. I want to buy it from my Aunt. I have the original shipping box, postmarked 1964. It's a Black Forest Emil Schmeckenbecher, three weight, 11 inch,Case Nr. 1065, No 605 HM, 5 leaves, two doors one bird, one little man, 1-day movement,AFEX Code No. 0-300 004, with Faust Walzer-#114 sticker on the back, and the #20 hand written in pencil on the inside bottom, in perfect condition and working order.
Please feel free to email me at: psycheuup@yahoo.com Thank you for any help you can give me. Jeff B.
more than you ever wanted to know about schmeckenbecher by: Anonymous
You're on the right track.25 does mean it's a Regula 1 day or 30 hour movement.
The other numbers are indeed patent numbers or in some cases, the phrase GM Angen which loosely translated from German means "Patent applied for" or "Patent Pending". Schmeckenbecker was not the manufacturer. They just had their name printed on the movements. Kinda like buying a washing machine marked Kenmore from Sears.Do you really think Sears has a washing machine factory somewhere?
Seems like every GI stationed in Germany either carried one home or had it shipped here. There used to be as your paperwork says,a network of "Authorized Repair Stations" across the U.S. Most are long gone now.
I used to work for one here in St.Louis.They too closed their doors in the late 1990's.I have been repairing cuckoos of all types since 1979.
