Gilbert metal case wind-up small clock
by Juliane
(Houston, TX)
I have a small wind-up clock that is probably from the 1920's or 1930's. My mother had it, not sure when she bought it. It has a square face with a round back. The square front is like a photo frame, with a green stripe of color outside the face.
The face of the clock is a painted scene of a lake or a beach, with a large red sunset in the rear. There are mountains in the background, a tree and the shore on the left. The scene is very colorful. The hands of the clock are on the outside of the scene and there is no glass over the front. The name Gilbert is just under where the hands are attached, and at the base of the numbers is "Made in Winsted Conn USA." This clock no longer works.
I cannot find any similar clock anywhere on any website. I'm sure this is not a valuable clock but I'd love to know more about it.
