Grandfathers French Antique Clock

I know nothing about this clock. It was my grandfathers clock and was given to me after my father passed. I want to find out what era it is, the maker and what it might be worth. On the inside it has the initial C.CH and a set of numbers near the bottom 1834 5 5.
