Howard Miller Clock chiming in running an hour behind

by Jennifer Kiko
(Louisville Ohio)

I have a grandfather clock that is down one hour in it's chiming, E/I it is 9:00, the clock chimes 8 times. Should I take the hour hand to the chiming time then let it chime then move it to the correct time?

Thank you.

Clock Hands
by: Joanie LaTorre

My name is Joanie LaTorre, owner of Black Bear Clock Repair in Sevierville, TN. Always remember, when moving the minute hand on any clock, you should place your fingers at the base of the hand.... not the middle or point and move the hand slowly and gently in the FORWARD DIRECTION ONLY! Stopping at each point that the clock strikes or chimes.... The hour hand can be moved in either direction, as it is a pressure fit hand and not connected to gearing as the minute hand is. On an Anniversary style clock, you move the hands COUNTER-CLOCKSWISE.

Yes, Jennifer. Moving the hour hand should solve your problem.
